About Neil at a Glance

Neil is a fully qualified Dog Trainer and Behaviourist with extensive credentials, including an 'Instructor Level' certification from the College of Scent Dog as well as being an Ambassador for the brand, Neil brings a wealth of expertise to his work. Additionally, he holds a Level 5 behaviourist qualification from the Institute of Modern Dog Training, further demonstrating his commitment to excellence in the field. He has recently passed the Certified Dog Trainer certification, through the Dog Training College.

Kim and Neil have dedicated their time and efforts to volunteering with various charities and organisations, both locally and internationally. Their compassion knows no bounds as they have traveled to France to aid in rescuing dogs from Romania, providing them with a chance at a brighter future. Their commitment to making a difference in the lives of animals extends beyond borders, showcasing their unwavering passion and dedication.

We are Kim and Neil

Neil and Kim's journey began in 2002 when Kim sought freelance fitness classes at Chapel Leisure Centre in Derbyshire. Neil, the Site Project Manager at the time, oversaw the centre's construction.

After years of friendship, bonding over shared interests in fitness, dining out, movies, and dogs, they began dating and have been inseparable since. Together, they founded 'Paws High Peak' in 2013, dedicating their lives to its success and the well-being of their own pets and clients.

They got married in Venice in 2014 and have lived in both New Mills and Birmingham. While scuba diving was a shared passion until health issues arose, they enjoy dining out, attending theatre shows, and traveling. Known and loved in their community, they faced heartbreak with the loss of their Great Dane, Egor, in 2022.

They cherish their elderly pug, Murphy and their two puppy's Rodney the Cocker Spaniel and Junior the Neapolitan Mastiff and four elderly rescue cats, who are treated like family. Dedicated volunteers, they have assisted various charities and even journeyed to France to rescue dogs from Romania. Their compassion extends to their community, where they lend a helping hand to friends and neighbours. With a rich history of caring for a variety of animals, Kim's soft spot for stray cats is undeniable, and Neil has accepted his role in their growing feline family.

Their shared journey, rooted in love and compassion, has forged a unique bond that continues to thrive.

Dog Trainer and Behaviourist

After a successful career in Leisure and Retail management for over 19 years, I felt the need for a change and new challenges. With a deep passion for canines, I joined my wife, Kim, in her venture 'Paws High Peak.' What began as a Dog Grooming service, expanded into Home Boarding and Doggy Daycare. Witnessing the dogs growth and confidence at our facility fueled my desire to become a Dog Trainer and Behaviorist.

Embracing the opportunity, I dedicated myself to re-educating and studying the intricacies of canine behavior. The learning journey, after a long hiatus from formal education, was initially daunting but immensely rewarding. Exploring how dogs learn and understanding their motivations became a true joy and further fueled my motivation.

For two years, I immersed myself in various courses, seminars, and hands-on experiences, volunteering alongside seasoned dog trainers. This comprehensive training paved the way for me to transition into full-time dog training—a decision I now consider the best of my life. I only wish I had pursued this path much earlier.

Working with incredible dogs every day feels like a privilege, and I consider myself fortunate to have found my calling.

Continuously expanding my knowledge, I attained the esteemed 'Instructor Level' certification from the The College of Scent Dogs, where I now serve as an Ambassador. Additionally, I successfully completed the 'Institute of Modern Dog Training' Level 5 behaviourist course in 2022, and completing the Certified Dog Trainer course with the Dog Training College in 2023.

While I can address a wide range of behavioral issues, my specialisation lies in working with reactive dogs, helping them overcome challenges with other dogs and people. My training methodology revolves around force-free positive reinforcement techniques, ensuring a compassionate and effective approach without resorting to aversive methods or equipment.

The journey of learning and growth continues as I strive to provide the best assistance to your beloved canines. It is my genuine pleasure to work with you and your dogs, and I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to support you on your journey.

After a long and illustrious career in the Fitness Industry as a Dance and Fitness Instructor, I reached a point where injuries and the natural progression of time prompted me to seek a new professional direction. It was during this search that I stumbled upon the realm of pet grooming and care.

Starting as a Pet Grooming Assistant in a corporate company, I immersed myself in mastering all aspects of grooming, eventually becoming a certified groomer. With growing confidence, I set out to establish my own business. In 2013, I proudly founded 'PAWS High Peak,' offering full-time grooming services in a private salon nestled beside our own property.

With an ever-expanding clientele and a solid reputation, our success led us to obtain a license from the High Peak Borough Council, enabling us to provide dog holiday Home Boarding and Doggy Day care. These services quickly gained popularity, and we transformed into a registered 5-star home boarding and day care facility.

Over the years, I've pursued numerous qualifications, ranging from Level 5 Home Boarding services, i've also obtained certifications in Pet Physiology and Pet Management, constantly seeking further knowledge and skills to better serve our clients.

Despite facing personal challenges in recent years, including a life-threatening illness and subsequent liver transplant, we remain committed to our beloved business. Currently operating on a part-time basis as I regain my strength.

In the meantime, we find solace in caring for your dogs in our home, cherishing every moment of it. The support and love we've received from our incredible clients-turned-friends and the local community have been instrumental in our journey. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you.
